ABOUT ME

I worked in a family business, studied in Germany, got a law degree, clerked for a judge, and practiced law for 25 years, working to resolve disputes amicably and presenting to arbitrators and judges those disputes which could not be.

I then handled marine insurance claims for 11 years, working with lawyers and correspondents in the US and around the world to resolve disputes, including participating in numerous mediations in the US as well as in Canada and in London.

Member, Society of Maritime Arbitrators, since 2016; President, 2021 to present; Vice-President, 2019-2021; Member, German Maritime Arbitration Association; Proctor, Maritime Law Association of the US; Member, Board of Directors, MLA, 2015-2018.

While in private practice (1984-2009), counsel of record in 28 published SMA awards; since commencing arbitral practice in 2015, panel member in 33 published awards and 6 non-published awards.
